Adult choir practice is every Wednesday from 7 to 8 p. m.  All are invited  to come regardless of vocal training. There is no audition. We only ask that you bring a desire to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through music!

The choir is 8-10 folks who enjoy harmonizing in hopes it will bless your worship experience. At services, you will frequently hear solos, routinely hear a flutist, often duets. Sometimes a guitar is added. The Ministry of Music strives to lift up the power of praise during worship with the use of a variety of musical styles and performers.

On special occasions a group of five to eight children may sing using hand motions. These special Sundays are celebrated with additional music by soloists, a cantata, or pageants with costumes.

Groups from other churches have come to share in song or praise dance. Sometimes all or part of our choir sings at events in the community.

Our choir is a happy group that has fun. You are certainly welcome to join.

We have robes for special occasions such as Easter and Christmas. But on most Sundays the choir wears regular attire.

If you enjoy, or want to learn about, weaving, this is for you. When people with long-term illness are added to our prayer and support list, the Praying Hands Ministry folks often cut and assemble strips of various colors of cloth into a beautiful prayer mat. The strips are woven together and then taken to the in-firmed person.

The cloth is donated by members and others. The actual weaving is done on the looms in the Activities Building.

Please call Judy if you plan to attend to verify that they are assembling on the given Thursday morning you are considering.

Thursday Bible studies are discussion sessions open to anyone and attended by Christians from Fairfields and other churches. Regular attendees purchase study guide books. There are generally extra copies for the use of guests or folks who are ‘trying out’ the studies to gauge their interest. Walk-ins are welcome.

Between meetings, they read the lesson and at the meetings they discuss the text and questions. Discussion topics often center around their personal experiences and challenges in applying Biblical principles to their daily lives. They can go well beyond the text and have fostered a supportive, caring and honest group atmosphere.

Over the past couple of years they have completed studies of several New and Old Testament books, and began Ephesians in September 2018. In addition to the flexible structure outlined above the group enjoys laughter, sharing about families and other facets of their lives, and being together. Often they go to lunch after the meetings, and join in other social activities.

Daytime meetings are not convenient to everyone and Fairfields is prepared, and eager, to form other study groups that could get together in the evenings, weekends, or whenever and wherever it’s convenient.

A casual lunch in historic Rice’s Hotel, Hewlett’s Tavern, now called The Tavern Cafe.

All are welcome.

If you’re hungry, they sell home made soup and other choices.

If not, just chat with the pastor and others who come.

Or come if you just like browsing around restored historic villages like old Heathsville.

These are not every week, and announced on the Calendar when scheduled. All are welcome.

Format: Traditional. Contemporary touches are frequent. Varies for Easter, Christmas, Baptisms, when new members join, etc.
Flow: Lay men or women lead hymns, prayer, announcements, Scripture readings. Pastor invites congregation to share joys and concerns then leads us in prayer. Choir presents Message in Music, often with solos or duets. Youngsters are invited to Children’s Church. Pastor delivers an edifying Bible-based sermon.
Communion: first Sunday of month, end of service. Children brought back to sanctuary to participate. “Open” communion (all are invited to partake).
Social and snacks in the Fellowship Hall after the service.
